Getting a friend something for her birthday, that says more than friendship but not too much?

My friend just broke up with her b/f. Her treated her like ****. For the past few weeks i have been just letting her know how much she is loved and doesn't need to be treated like that. I have always felt something for her but i know its a bad time now. Her birthday is coming up and i want to get her something that shows how much she means to me but not too much because of her current situation. I was debating maybe getting some flowers or something and leaving them on her front porch to find when she gets home from work. First of all is this a good idea? Any ideas what to get? And should i maybe not put who its from? I am so lost i want to take the next step with her but not to fast because of her just getting out of a bad relationship. Basically for now i think i am trying to put myself out there for her without going to far. I think it is a good idea for me to get her a b-day gift, what do you think. Please help! Thanks

well buddy look your right don't make it obvious that you like with the present just get her a big *** teddy bear with roses or go out with her and her friends but make sure your not the only guy going but if you just get her a gift don't leave it on her porch give it to her face to face and from there just hope for the best !!! good luck
