Hello all, it's my lovely Mum's 70th birthday soon and I'm really struggling to think up something great to give her. I was quite keen on the idea of a spa day but she has cancer and they refuse to do most of the best treatments because of this. She already has lots of ornaments, she'll get flowers, chocolates, all the usual stuff and she has quite sensitive skin so smellies are out. What on earth can I get her? I'm usually quite imaginative but I'm struggling here - can anyone think of something unusual / traditional that shows I care? Anyone given a particularly well received 70th birthday present? I don't like the idea of a personalised newspaper, helium balloons or coins from 1937, plus she can't drink so unfortunately champagne's out too. I don't mind spending a bit more than usual as it's such a big event but my top limit's about £50 - HELP!
Many thanks....
70th birthday present for my Mum?
Here is a great thought, Go to her favorite hair stylist, Swing a deal with the hair dresser, And ask the hair dresser to come over to the house, one day, when your mum is feeeling better, or up to par, And have her gradually work on a new hairdo, for her, or wash her hair for her, and you pay it, If she perfers to go out then take her to get her hair done, then, take her to a nice sit down lunch, I know my Mother had Breast cancer, 3 years ago, She was laid to rest 2 years ago, And I know, Trust me, The secret is a nice hair do, or a nice shower

Reply:is mum short for mummy....maybe buy some TOILET PAPER TO WRAP YOUR MUM.......my.
Reply:A surprise birthday party to celebrate her life. Get neighbors, friends to bring food; when asked, most people are willing to bring something to a party
Reply:My mother turned 70 last Sept...I tried and tried to think of something unusual to give her. She has a big sweet tooth so I found a website (in the US) that sells ice cream and sent her their "sampler".
She got 18 pints of ice cream and when she received them they'd been packed in dry ice and were still frozen solid. She was really surprised and tickled at such an unusual but fun gift.
It can be hard to think of something uncommon but do a search online for 'unique gifts' and see if you run across something that inspires you in some way.
Good luck...and happy birthday (soon) to your mum!
Reply:you could save some money here...so try getting all her pictures together from way back then and make a collage in a nice big frame...it will give her something to look back on and she will get good memories from it....they don't all have to be pictures of her, it could be pictures of the whole family throughout the years....sorry i can't come up with anything else.... but i did this for my Nan before she died, she lived to the ripe old age of 89, and she loved what i made for her, we had a good old time looking at the pictures and remembering the times when they were taken...
Reply:get her a stripper. =]
Reply:get her some knitting supplies so she can learn to knit
Reply:if you do not wanna buy anything make her somthing that means more to her than somthing you buy or you can buy her a pretty ring or give her a funny shirt or you can get everybody in a circle and they have to have money then put your mom in the middle and they will pin money on her outfit.
Reply:How many children, grandchildren, gt gndchildrendoes she have? get them all to chip in a book a session at a photographers where everyone must turn up and have a huge photo taken of all her descendents together. give it to her on her birthday as a surprise.
Reply:Professional make-over - so she can have some nice photos...
Reply:Why not get her to write down her ten most favourite songs of all time, ones which have memories and then get them made up as a cd.
Reply:You mum sounds as `difficult` to by for as mine who`s 78. Mine suffers from photosensitivity so she also has sensitive skin. I usually stick with clothes, I know it`s not very imaginative but it`s safe and she does appreciate it. You could always take her into Marks or somewhere and ask her to pick out 3 or 4 things/outfits then suprise her with one of them.
Reply:u can pray for u r mom
Reply:I think u'd better buy sth which make her feel young.......i dont know what she likes......but if i were a seventy year old woman i would like to get perfume, cosmetics,or maybe u can buy her sth funny to make her happy........4 example simpson toys!!!;) i dont know really!!! doesnt she like antique furniture??maybe u r worried about its cost but i think it might be worthy.....cuz its 4 ur mom........and my last suggestion%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;buy her a theater ticket.......
Reply:Woodlands Trust will plant trees you have the choice of which wood you want them planted in and they send you a lovely certificate that you can word yourself cost about £25 for 3 trees ... Or another idea is perhaps to get a nice picture of her with the rest of your family and get it framed for her might be more expensive but perhaps if there are a few of you then you could all chip in . x
